In Arizona, there are about 4 common types we see throughout the East Valley and Phoenix areas. The Bark Scorpion, Yellow Ground Scorpion, and Stripped Tail Scorpion are also called the Devil Scorpion and the Desert Hairy Scorpion. Out of the 4, only the Bark Scorpion has a venom that can be dangerous to humans. The other three types of scorpions mentioned have venom, but it's not very potent and their stings are about as painful as a honeybee sting. The Desert Hairy is the largest of scorpions and likes to Burrough under rocks/dirt areas with moisture.

This species of scorpion can accidentally find gaps and openings into homes and businesses in the East Valley and Phoenix areas of Arizona. Bark Scorpion Behaviors
Scorpions do not seek out people, and most times accidentally land up inside your home or commercial business. They do need to find hiding places once it's daylight as they are nocturnal water retention arachnids. Scorpions will crawl where there is shade, sometimes hiding in dark areas in and around your home such as garages, under larger-sized landscape rocks, If hiding near an entry point they may land up in a gap, crack crevice, they will also hide in compost areas, areas with a lot of leaf debris, under patio furniture, under patio umbrellas bases. It's endless. Keeping a clean and maintained and manicured property will help your pest control allowing us to get to the targeted areas for scorpions to come across which is the objective of having Scorpion and General Pest Control with us.
Conducive areas
Having a lot of construction debris such as cinder blocks or large items against block yard walls or against home/business exterior walls will create a harboring area for scorpions, as well as, other rodents and soft body insects. Leaving toys, wet pool towels, and bbq covers can leave you with a surprise scorpion hiding under them during the day. Open Doggy doors left open after dust or not properly sealed, along with gaps and cracks 1/16th of an inch or larger are where scorpions and other pests may enter if they crawl near these areas. Keeping your home or business properly maintained will allow for a thorough pest control service every time. What to expect if stung by a Bark Scorpion
The BARK SCORPION gives a very painful and potentially deadly venom to Arizona Bark Scorpions. The pain can involve severe pain at the injection site, along with tingling, numbness, and sometimes vomiting in adults. Elderly and young people being stung can be more at risk of loss of breath, lots of pain, and possible allergies which can cause anaphylactic shock.
First Aide should be given if only with pain and no breathing issues. This includes cleaning the sting area for 10 minutes on 10 off, applying cold ice pack covered with a cloth, taking ibuprofen or acetaminophen as needed for pain follow directions for dosage for adults/Children. Continue as needed.
For medical emergencies with breathing issues or if symptoms become worse contact medical emergency, especially with children and the elderly.
If you need help choosing what type of service we can assist you with either a Monthly or Bi-Monthly service. These two services are different as Monthly is every 25-30 days and applied products are set for a monthly percentage. Bi-Monthly we increase the product amount for coverage up to 60 days Bi-Monthly comes with a guarantee of re-service should you happen to see scorpion activity aside from an occasional invader that finds a way inside the living space. Monthly or Bi-Monthly is recommended for scorpion control. Quarterly service is used just for General Pest Control and not best for scorpion control. Quarterly is if you never want to see scorpions or worry about them.
